About Active Now

Active Now

The Active Now programme is run by the Virtual School in each local authority in the West Midlands, in partnership with a local sports provider organisation.

The aim of the programme is to create an offer of high quality sporting activities, experiences and opportunities across the region. This will range from ‘try it out’ one off activities, to longer 5 to 6 week programmes and special cluster events. We hope to provide access to activities young people might not have tried, create opportunities to develop new skills and give them the chance to be physically active. Events are usually fully funded by the WMVS CIC Foundation, so children in care can normally take part for free.

Over the last few years, there has been a wide range of activities on offer and an increasing number of young people are now taking part. They have experienced sports such as: cricket, trampolining, indoor climbing, mountain biking, rolling skating, dance, golf, football, boxing, sailing and outdoor adventure. The aim is to have a diverse and inclusive range of activities on offer in each area of the region, across the full academic year.
